Herbert B. Callen authored one of the most highly regarded physics texts of its type, Thermodynamics and an Introduction to Thermostatistics.
Dr. Callen obtained his Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1947. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1990. Dr. Callen died in 1993.
