Lynn S. Beedle is an international authority on stability and the development of code criteria for steel and composite structures. He has been a leader and outstanding contributor to the work of the Structural Stability Research Council for a period of more than 50 years, establishing the council as the pre-eminent organization worldwide in the area of structural stability. He is the founder and former director of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The council is an international organization that studies and reports on the planning, design, construction and operation of tall buildings, and their impact on the urban habitat.
Dr. Beedle has been on the faculty of Lehigh University since 1947, and was appointed to a University Distinguished Professorship in 1978.
