Join us on a trip into the cosmos for an evening of space exploration at The Franklin Institute, hosted by our Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts! Night Skies in the Observatory is a monthly family-friendly stargazing event that connects guests of all experience levels to the outer limits of our universe. Find your favorite view from some of the most powerful rooftop telescopes in the country as you observe planets, star clusters, nebulae, and even galaxies! Get exclusive access to these deep sky telescopes in Bloom Observatory or at Ben’s Starlight Lounge on our 5th-floor observation deck, featuring a cash bar.

You’ll have access to planetarium star shows, live science presentations, hands-on astronomy activities, and continuous rooftop telescopic observing (weather permitting). Plus, the program is staffed with astronomy experts to guide you along your journey with free star maps provided.
