External Affairs Assistant

The Franklin Institute is seeking a dynamic, creative, organized, and energetic individual to join the fundraising team and provide exceptional administrative support, relationship management, and problem solving skills to maximize fundraising efforts across the organization. This individual is essential to the execution of day-to-day operations in the External Affairs department and supports all fundraising efforts including major and principal gifts, annual giving, and the capital campaign. They will also have opportunities to contribute to campaign planning and management, provide event support, develop relationships with donors, partners, and vendors, and be involved in other departmental activities.

Minimum Qualifications: 
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience in general office environment involving considerable computer work is required. Development office experience is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills and careful attention to details. Self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize projects effectively. Ability to be effective working independently and as part of a team. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, an inquisitive nature, and a strong track record of creative problem solving. Ability to provide a very high level of customer service and to interact effectively with donor audiences, TFI volunteer leadership and senior staff. Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and strong experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar database preferred.  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
The External Affairs Assistant will complete daily gift processing and reporting for the team and coordinate deposits with the Finance department. The External Affairs Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining integrity of the Raiser’s Edge database by updating biographical information, uploading research profiles, and fundraising activity. This individual will also provide administrative support for the External Affairs team and support the fundraising campaign. Receive and distribute mail to appropriate parties within the department, as well as, generate and mail campaign and annual fund receipts and acknowledgements.
