Free Screening: Chasing the Moon

Commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with WHYY and the Franklin Institute for a sneak peak of the new American Experience series, Chasing the Moon. The preview screening will be followed by a discussion from co-hosts of WHYY-FM's Skytalk, the Franklin Institute’s Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts and WHYY’s All Things Considered host Dave Heller.

Years in the making, Chasing the Moon thoroughly reimagines the race to the moon for a new generation, upending much of the conventional mythology surrounding the effort. The series recasts the Space Age as a fascinating stew of scientific innovation and PR savvy, political calculation and media spectacle, visionary impulses and personal drama.

The 3-part series Chasing the Moon airs on WHYY-TV July 8-10, 9:00-11:00 p.m. Engagement for Chasing the Moon is kindly sponsored by PBS.
