Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at The Franklin Institute. 
Special daylong activities designed to pay tribute to one of the most influential leaders of our nation.  Local spoken word poet Ron Cook delivers a poignant tribute to Dr. King, and on this national day of service, visitors are encouraged to turn their passion for science into action through various citizen science activities. Plus relive Dr. King’s powerful delivery of  “I Have a Dream” featured on screens throughout the day in the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial.

Scavenger Hunt and Coloring Activity

Learn more about influential African-American scientists and inventors by participating in a short museum scavenger hunt, with prizes while supplies last.  Our younger visitors can take part in an “I Have a Dream” themed coloring activity.

Listen to the powerful and inspiring words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as he made his speech to hundreds of thousands of civil rights supporters at the 1963 March on Washington.  The “I Have a Dream” speech, in its entirety, will be featured throughout the day on four large screens in Franklin Hall.
