National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 to October 15 to celebrate the rich culture and diversity of the American Latino community and the contributions of those that came from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, and South and Central America.
Produced in partnership with El Concilio; join us on Saturday, September 16 for a special day of programming that highlights the contributions of some of the amazing Philadelphia locals and organizations that help educate and nourish our Latino community.
All programming is included in your museum admission and takes place from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.

Special Weather Science live show and Meet-&-Greet with Telemundo62 weather anchor, Janet Bolívar
A four-time Emmy award winner, Janet comes to Telemundo62 from KTMD-TV, Telemundo Houston where she served as a weather anchor for more than three years. Prior to that, she worked as a weather anchor and field weather reporter at Telemundo Arizona for two years. Before that, Janet spent six years as a reporter for GFR Media in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Born in Puerto Rico, Janet’s mother and father are from Cuba and Puerto Rico, respectively. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in international communication from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. She is currently in pursuit of her meteorology certification at Mississippi State University.
The Science of Weather show with Janet Bolivar will take place at 1:30 pm in the Atrium on Floor 2.
Performances and lessons with Un Toque de Cache
Un Toque de Cache is a six-piece ensemble made up of vocals, percussion, saxophone, bass, and piano. They play traditional Latin Jazz Mambo and Cha Cha Cha and specialize in educating on the roots of Puerto Rican history with hands on performances.
Performances and lessons with Un Toque de Cache will take place at 12:30 & 2:30 pm pm in the Atrium on Floor 2.

Chef Javier was born and raised in New York City. With more than 25 years of professional cooking experience, his approach to cooking derives from his personal experiences and his goal to create food that is delicious and healthy. As he sees it, every bite of food tells a unique story.

Hispanic Heritage Month crosses over both September and October to include the Independence anniversary for Latin American countries El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras (September 15) along with other independence days, up until and including Dia de la Raza on October 12th which celebrates the heritage and cultural diversity of Latin America.
