Development Assistant

Employment Status: 
Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week. 

Position Description
The Franklin Institute is seeking a dynamic, creative, organized, and energetic individual to join the External Affairs team and provide exceptional administrative support, relationship management assistance, and problem solving skills to maximize fundraising efforts across the organization. This individual provides essential support to Major Gift Officers in the External Affairs Department, including campaign fundraising activities and outreach to donors and potential supporters, annual fundraising support, and comprehensive relationship management tracking using Raiser’s Edge. Additional duties include providing support to frontline fundraising staff to achieve major giving qualification, cultivation, and solicitation goals, as well as stewardship for donors. The position works collaboratively across the Department and the Institute to support all fundraising and membership activities, as needed. The position will report to the Director of Major and Principal Gifts.    

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, minimum of three years’ experience in general office environment involving considerable computer work required. 
  • Development office experience preferred.
  • Must have a sincere interest in advancing philanthropic priorities of The Franklin Institute, as well as objectives of capital campaign in advance of the Institute’s 200th anniversary in 2024.
  • Desire to work in a donor-centered culture that produces high-quality information, materials, and constituent experiences. 
  • Must be a strong writer, with an acute attention to detail in all work. 
  • Must demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, constituents, and community, and become a knowledgeable advocate of The Franklin Institute’s mission and programs.
