Sensory Friendly Every Day

People exploring the Space Exhibit

We are pleased to offer a few ways to make our museum more comfortable for kids and adults with a variety of sensory differences – every day! Right now, with reduced capacity and social distancing protocols in place, every day is a good day to experience the museum without crowds and in a less overwhelming environment.

Download Sensory Alert Maps to guide you through certain devices or experiences in each exhibit that may have high levels of stimulations.  Download maps here.

Pick up a Sensory Backpack, stocked with helpful tools like noise-reducing headphones, sunglasses, fidgets, and more. Available on a first-come, first-served basis from the Ticketing Desk in the Atrium on the second floor; sanitized for each use.

If you need a quieter space inside the museum, try exhibits like Amazing Machine or Space.

If you find the museum too overwhelming and need to leave within 30 minutes of purchasing your tickets, please stop by the Box Office to receive a return trip voucher to try again on another day.

We're excited to celebrate science with everyone!
