|How to Participate|
Our project is designed for kindergarten through twelfth grade students and their classroom teachers. Throughout the year, you will be able to follow our team of investigators as they study the physics, aerodynamics, mathematics and biomechanics of tennis. You can participate in live web chats with our team of investigators, ask us questions about your tennis science project and follow our team's results.
We've set up our project so that you can conduct your own research project! We'll guide you through the process. Our activities and lessons are designed to demonstrate and teach you the same science principles that the research team will study, but without using the expensive equipment the research team will use. Since we understand that you may not be able to complete all of the activities, we'll show you our results so that you can use what we've discovered and you can continue to follow our progress.
One of the great things about using the Internet is that you'll be able to see short video clips of the experiments being conducted. We'll even be creating animations that demonstrate the science principles to you - a type of "virtual laboratory". But we really hope that you'll try these experiments for yourself.
Once a month we'll be posting new information, activities, curriculum and research results. You can check Latest News to find these items.
Our curriculum meets national science standards. Each lesson plan describes the skills that will be learned. We'll also provide tips to educators on how to integrate our curriculum into their regular classroom activities.
We've received a lot of wonderful and enthusiastic e-mail from tennis schools, tennis professionals and sports scientists who would like to participate in our project. One suggestion that has been made is for tennis instructors to videotape and analyze some of their own students and assist those students in reproducing the research team's progress. We'd like to get your ideas on ways that tennis schools and other professionals might participate in this project. Please write us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
