STEPS TO FOLLOW:

one Go over with the class the various paper airplane patterns and designs that are available. Custom fit the designs that you share with your class according to their air level, interest, and ability.

two Make available the patterns to the students either through example or step by step instructions that you do together. This will depend upon the age of the students.

three Hand out the paper, pencils, scissors, and glue.

four Make several paper airplanes together.

five Then either "fly" the planes in the room or go outside on a grassy area where you will not be disturbed by other classes.

six Have the students observe how various types of paper airplanes soar, dip, and rise in the air. Discuss these observations together when you get back to class.

seven As an extension: challenge students to create a new paper airplane design and have a competition among the students for the best design in various categories.
