A Frisbee is round, light weight and usually made of plastic. You can throw it to a friend. Or maybe you can throw it to your dog to catch! It is fun to play.
The first people that played Frisbee were college students. They used pie pans. The pie pans look like Frisbees. One of the pie companies was called the "Frisbie" Pie Company. That is how the Frisbee got its name.
A Frisbee flies best if it is spinning. The spinning keeps it in the air longer. Throw the Frisbee with your right hand. Now, throw it with your left hand. The Frisbee will usually go in the direction it is spinning.
Ask your teacher to show you a spinning gyroscope. Try to turn it over while it is spinning. It is hard! This is what keeps your Frisbee flying far.
A top must spin or it will fall over. Bicycle wheels must turn for the
bicycle and rider to stay up. A Frisbee works the same way as the top and the bicycle wheel. Get a Frisbee and throw it to a friend!
