Chanute Will Visit - May 5, 1902
The History: Wilbur received two letters from Octave Chanute today. In the first Chanute thanks the Wrights for their kind thoughts and words of sympathy at the passing of Chanute's wife. In the second letter Chanute writes he would like to visit and discuss how air pressure affects the flying machine and the advantages of one wing shape over another.
Chanute also wrote that he is having someone build a flying machine and he would like to give to the Wrights. Although Chanute has decided to stop experimenting, he hopes the Wrights may learn something from his designs.
