This RADAR image offers a good example of a thunderstorm complex, which is actually several thunderstorms occurring together. Notice where the heaviest rains are falling. Lightning and thunder are likely in these areas as well. On this image, you can also see an outflow boundary, which is the edge of gusty winds that blow down and out from the thunderstorm in a circular pattern. You might know these as the cool winds that come right before a summertime thunderstorm.
