Effector Mission Scenarios

Mission 1: A cute little critter has come out of his home, but needs help finding his way back. You want to help him, but he will not allow anyone to touch him. Use your effector to get him back into his home in the box.

Materials needed: Air Power Pop-Up

Mission 2: Inside the flask before you is a very expensive chemical. It needs to be covered to avoid being contaminated by pollutants in the air. The problem is that the flask and its cork cannot be touched so you must use your effector to loosely place the cork in the mouth of the flask.

Materials needed: flask with cork that fits in the mouth and water (colored)

Mission 3: Your help is needed to attach the newest component of the International Space Station. These parts fit together securely when properly aligned, so take your time and be careful as this equipment costs millions of dollars.

Materials needed: balloon, Velcro, 2" dowel, cardboard box

Mission 4: There is a probe that needs to be moved. It can only be separated from a powering station for a short time, so we have set up a series of powering stations along the path to our destination. You must use the effector to get the probe to its destination without dropping it.

Materials needed: cups, small balls or balloons, short cardboard tubes, start and finish markers
