Full Project Description:
Use your MENTAL skills to tell MidLink Magazine readers
about significant MONUMENTS or landmarks. Select a
historical monument, building, or park and research its
history. What story does it tell? Create web pages about
Monu-MENTAL structures in your social studies curriculum or
in your local region.
Which monument should you choose? Look outside your window!
Your monument could be a local structure that is unique and
significant in your regional history. You could also select
a monument that represents a historical battleground, a
famous person, or even your state capital. Study the design
of the structure and its architectural features in math or
art class. What types of angles make up the structure?
Study its historical significance of a monument from a
region you learn about in
social studies. What is the history behind the structure and
why is it
important? Write about your monument in language arts
class. Check with your local Historical Preservation Society
to find even more resources.

Objectives:
Your final product should be one of the following:
1. A word processing file describing your monument and its
significance.
Include illustrations or photos if possible. You may attach
these files to
an e-mail message or post them on your school's web page.
We will point to
your registered pages from MidLink Magazine.
2. Web pages about your monument. We can post a limited
number on our
server, but we will point to registered pages from MidLink
Magazine
3. A HyperStudio or PowerPoint project. We can post a
limited number of
these on our web site, but MidLink Magazine will point to
registered
projects posted on your school's web page.
Math/Art History/Humanities Objectives:
1. Students will research and write about the architectural
and geometrical
features of a historical monument.
2. Students will collect and analyze data about the number
of visitors whosee the monument.

Project Title: EST CONTROL PROJECT
A friend as well as an Enemy to man, Pest are almost every
where. One can not imagine there habitation and the harmful,
distractive works they cause to there habitation. It is
ironic for any creature to destroy a place where it stays.
This telecollaborative project serves to reduce if possible
eradicate the enormous harmful works of these creatures.
Do not hestate to provide suggestions, ideas, solutions and
essays.
Perhaps this project will attract students and educators
from all places to reflect on the subject matter "The Pest
Control Project".
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
- To suggest possible ways of reducing pest
- To clearly outline the most and common hazardous pest
in the word and there harmfulness.
- Exchange ideas on the pests.
- To analyze the the spread of pest in our areas.
- To come up with possible solutions to reduce the
activities of these animals and Birds.
- To creating a global awareness to the problem of
pests which have been often ignored as well as
suggesting the most efficient methods and how to implement
them.

Project: First snowfall
Date: 10/31/98 - 2/28/98
Purpose: The students will learn mapping skills,
measurement, climates of different regions, predicitng, and
teperature.
Subjects: Multidisciplinary
Grade Levels: K-2
Summary: This project will have different schools
projecting when their
first snowfall will be. Then when the first snowfall occurs
they can
record the date, time , and depth of the snow. Classes can
write a group
discussion about it and expand thier ideas to tell what they
did the first
snowfall, what was the temperature, did school close, what
is their
favorite snow activity, pictures and drawings can be
included.
Each participant share their information via e-mail.
Number of participants: I hope to work with 15 different
classrooms. East of the Rocky Mountains.

Project Title: PUzZlE Me!!

Project Summary:
I am looking to organize a "PUZZLE ME" project
with interested Grade 4 classes. The way the
project will work is that registered classes will
create and submit a Puzzle representing what
they've learned during the month of October or
November.

Full Project Description:
The way the project will work is that registered
classes will create and submit a Puzzle representing
what they've learned during the month of October or
November. Class one,
which will be designated after you register, will create a
puzzle and send
it to me at the end of their assigned week. I will then send
that puzzle to
all classes who will have the following week to solve the
puzzle.
Each class will submit their puzzle on the Friday
of their assigned week. This will give registered
classes the next week to solve the puzzle.
And...this will give me the time to post the answers
on our home page during the weekends.
All participating classes will attempt to solve the puzzle
before each
Friday when the next class will be submitting their puzzle.
PLEASE NOTE: Only one puzzle needs to be submitted from each
registered class.
We will also be forming a booklet of puzzles and answer keys
that we will
mail to registered classes at the end of this project.
Puzzles could be in the form of Crosswords, Search-a-Word,
etc.

CONCLUSION:
All puzzles will be PUBLISHED at

of each week. I will also be producing a puzzle booklet and
will be mailing a copy to you and your class.

Project Title: Schoolyard Pitfall Trap Experiment

Students will capture ground dwelling invertebrates using
baby food jar pitfall traps. Data can be entered using a
submittal form on the web, and then posted. Assessments and
discussion questions are included.

Full Project Description:
The Schoolyard Pitfall Trap Experiment challenges students
at all levels to conduct a scientific investigation. The
project is designed to allow teachers to decide the level of
complexity. The addressed National Science Standards are
listed along with Illinois Goals and Standards. When
students have collected their data it can be submitted
online. Their data will then be processed and displayed at
the web site. Discussion questions and authentic
assessments have been included.
