Science Activities for K-4
Water
In Ancient Egypt, life depended on the Nile River, the longest river in the world. Each year, in early summer, heavy rains felt further South in Africa and caused the Nile to overflow its banks in Egypt. The flood was very good for the soil, allowing the Egyptians to plant their crops of grains, vegetables, and fruits.
Without this extra water, the Egyptians might not have been able to eat. They also gathered fish from the Nile and used it as a means of transportation. It's no wonder that water was so important to them!
The K-4 Think Like an Egyptian activity booklet includes ideas and activities appropriate for K-4 students. View just the water page of the booklet, or view the entire activity booklet. Both documents are PDFs. Encourage your students to try the activities at home, with parental supervision.
