Moon Exploration at the Museum

Location: Space Command (First floor of Franklin Institute)
Exhibit: Why Does the Moon Change?

Chaperone Instructions: All of the children must answer the questions. They should work together. The students have 30 minutes to complete this activity. If they finish early, they may explore the rest of The Space Command.

Please answer the following questions. Use the exhibit Why Does the Moon Change? to help you:

1. What does orbit mean?

2. How many days does it take the moon to orbit the earth?

3. Is the moon changing shape?

4. Why does it look like the moon is changing shape?

5. What are you looking at in the room when the moon is full?

6. What are you looking at in the room when the moon is new?

7. Can you find the sun source in the room?

8. Can you name the different shapes of the moon?
