Description of Program

                   Description of the Program

The first grade science curriculum of the Philadelphia School District contains a unit on how things move, to be taught during the months of February and March. I taught this unit during the school year of 2003. The children were naturally curious about movement. I had the students explore the science learning of force and direction in throwing balls. I wanted the students to develop questions and hypotheses about the movement of balls. We visited The Franklin Institute to add to our program and to make it more real. Please feel free to borrow my plans. They worked out very well.
