THE HUMAN BODY

This site is developed for elementary school educators who want to use a unit on the human body in conjunction with a field trip to the Franklin Institute Science Museum.

I am a teacher in the Philadelphia School System.  I teach at the J. Hampton Moore School, teaching thirty third graders in a very small trailer.

My third grade class learned about many of the human body systems. We explored the digestive, circulatory, nervous, skeletal, respiratory and muscular systems.

Each student constructed a human body, and labeled the systems and the important organs as we explored the body.

Links are provided for activities and lessons to use with your students before the trip, so they will have better understanding of the experience at the museum.

My class read many nonfiction books, watched videos, and did interactive activities on the computer to reinforce things learned in the classroom.
