Bath or Shower?

Question: Do you use more water if you take a bath or a shower?

Materials:

  • bath tub

  • egg timer

  • water

Procedure: (2 days)

Day 1

  1. Fill bathtub as normal for bath.

  2. Check the water level in the tub. Use a ruler to measure the height of the water.

  3. Fill out the chart below.

Day 2

  1. Plug the drain of your bathtub.

  2. Set the egg timer for 5 minutes.

  3. Shower until timer goes off.

  4. Check the water level in the tub. Use a ruler to measure the height of the water.

Additional steps: Try experiment again with a water saving shower head.
