220 million years ago, dinosaurs were beginning their domination of Earth. But another group of reptiles was about to make an extraordinary leap: pterosaurs were taking control of the skies! Join David Attenborough, the world’s leading naturalist, as he sets out to uncover the truth about the enigmatic pterosaurs, whose wingspans of up to 40 feet were equal to that of a modern day jet plane.

Tornado Alley

What is it like to be in a tornado? Who are the people who chase them? How do scientists study them? Tornado Alley explores these questions by concentrating on Vortex 2, which drew researchers from a variety of disciplines for one of the most complex studies of tornadoes ever undertaken. Tornado Alley is a terrific complement to the Changing Earth exhibit.

Huge weather hits our giant four-story, wrap-around screen. Come face-to-face with the awesome spectacle of tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanoes. Learn about scientists’ groundbreaking quests to understand what triggers these extreme, and potentially disastrous, occurrences. For a powerful experience, pair this film with a visit to the Changing Earth exhibit.
