Compare the Aircraft
Teachers' notes
Picture of The 1903 Flyer
The Wright brothers were the first to fly a powered heavier-than-air craft.
They made their first flight in 1903.
They called their aircraft the Flyer.
Picture of The Vickers-Vimy
Alcock and Brown were the first to fly across the Atlantic.
They did this in 1919.
Their aircraft was a Vickers Vimy.
Find out about these two aircraft. Here are some things to find out:
How big they were.
How heavy they were.
How fast they could fly.
How far they could fly.
How long they could fly for.
How high they could fly.
Where they were made.
How they were powered.
How they were controlled.
Think of a way to show how these two important aircraft compare with each other.
