Cosmic Lesson #8: Asteroids

An asteroid is a minor planet that orbits the sun. Asteroids consist of rock and metal. One theory of their origin is that they are chunks of material that failed to come together to form planets. There are thousands and thousands of asteroids in space. Most of them are found in an asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Asteroids have rough edges and craters.
