Cosmic Lesson #2: The Planets


There are nine planets in our solar system. They are called, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto.
(acronym - Mary's Very Extravagant Mother Just Sold Us Ninety Parrots)

The inner planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. They are closest to the sun. The outer planets which have more of the ice and gas are: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. They are farthest from the Sun.

Several of the planets have moons or satellites which orbit them. The Earth has one satellite, called the Moon.
