Dear People of Florida,

I would like to explain why I think the Florida Scrub Jay should be named the state bird. The Florida Scrub Jay eats frogs, toads, berries, nuts, and acorns. They also are very friendly. They are almost extinct, and only found in Florida. As for the mocking bird, he is the state bird in several other states, and he isn't very nice. The mocking bird is our unofficial, but traditional state bird. That is why I think the Florida Scrub Jay should be the official state bird of our great state of Florida.

Sincerely,
James

Dear People of Florida,

We are trying to change the state bird of Florida to the Florida Scrub Jay. He/she is only found in Florida. Their breeding occurs within two years of age. They mainly live by beaches and under brush. Since it is only native to Florida, wouldn't it be a good state bird? The mockingbird is found in four other states, but the Florida Scrub Jay is the only bird not found in any other state. The Florida Scrub Jay is also endangered.

People, I'm trying to tell you that the Florida Scrub Jay should be our state bird. Scrub Jays are real friendly, so please sign the petition going around, and let's make the native Florida Scrub Jay our official state bird.

Sincerely,
Chad
