Vocabulary Can Help!

1. Look at the Terms to Know page. Add words which you feel your students may need to become acquainted with. Print out copies of the the vocabulary for student use.

2. Create crossword puzzles and wordfinds (Seek A Word puzzles) using the terms from your vocabulary list.

Having students create the puzzles can be a great learning experience. Computer programs are available which can help with this task. Depending on the age of the students you can decide to let them write clues for their words and add new words from their reading on the topics.

When students are using materials on line or in books they are reading have students create a list of words they need help with. Some of these terms may be perfect ones to discuss and add to the class glossary list.

3. Have students try the Seek A Word puzzle on this site. If students get stuck while trying to find a word have them do this:

1. Click on the word in the list they are having trouble finding.
2. Click on the button under the word list which says "find words"
3. The word will be circled for them in the puzzle.

Words in the puzzle can be rescrambled when done for another user by clicking on that button under the wordlist.
