| Today is August 25th 79 A.D. Yesterday, a violent outburst occurred in Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum, Italy. People were killed and a city was destroyed by what was thought to be just a peaceful mountain, Mount Vesuvius. What is now a volcano stands at 4,190 feet rising from the plains of Campania. No lava was ejected, but deadly mud and ashes overwhelmed the poor people. As of now, approximately two thousand lives are known to have been lost. |
