Plates Tectonic

Plate Tectonics states the earth's crust and upper mantle are broken into about 20 plates. Some of these plates are whole continents, and others are smaller. These plates move between 1/2 and 4 inches a year. Movement of these plates explains how mountains, earthquakes, and volcanoes form.
