PangeaAccording to this theory, the continents formed a part of a huge land mass that was called Pangea. Much of the earth's land lies in the Northern Hemisphere. One half of Pangea lied in the Southern Hemisphere. What is now the United States used to be near the equator, maybe far east of its present position. India was not part of Asia at that time. Asia lay near the South Pole.
