PangeaPangea existed about 200 million years ago. The map shows Pangea broken up into the land masses Laurasia and Gondwanaland. The present continents have moved. The bottom map shows the continents today, and where they may drift. During the next 50 million years, black outlines according to this theory, show where the continents might be. All continents were formed from part of an enormous single land mass called Pangea. Although much of the earth's land now lies in the Northern Hemisphere, half of the Pangea was in the Southern Hemisphere.
