Mesa Verde

In the 1800's the United States Government made the Indians move on to
reservations. December 18,1888 Richard Wetherill and his brother
discovered (without even knowing it) Cliff Palace. At one time it
had housed more than 200 Anasazi Indian people! It is now practically
the BIGGEST cliff dwelling in Mesa Verde National Park!! Over the
years the Wetherills kept on exploring around Mesa Verde. The first
systematic investigation at Mesa Verde was made in 1891 by a Swede named
Gustaf Nordenskiold. That was a very important discovery for
Mesa Verde!
