This
is a report on the cliff dwellings. They are ancient homes of
Anasazi civilizations. Mesa Verde is an Anasazi park.
Anasazi means "ancient ones." It is a Navajo word. The
people who used to live here lived thousands of years ago. They made
woven baskets, clay pots and tools made from bone and rock. Their
architecture was wondrous. By 1906 these ruins were world famous.
Their homes built on cliffs were similar to apartment buildings today.
Their lifestyle was almost the same as ours.
By
studying these artifacts scientists found out they were farmers.
They grew corn, beans and squash. They also kept
dogs and turkeys. (YUM!) They hunted deer and rabbits.
