The Anasazi Indians lived in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. After a long time the Indians changed their houses. They made their houses above ground like apartments. They were called Pueblos.
The Anasazi Indians cemented walls together with mud to help build houses. They called that mud adobe. Adobe is made of mud, water, and straw.
The Anasazi Indians stuck wood through their houses to make floors and roofs. They had ladders to get in and out of their houses.
Kivas are ceremonial rooms that were built in the ground. They had one hole in the roof that they climbed in and out of on a ladder. That hole was also used if they had a fire in the house. The smoke would come out of it.
The Anasazi Indians also had a big hole that they would use as a place to discard trash.
There are many places in Mesa Verde National Park to see these ancient houses.
