The Tlingit people like to fish, hunt and make baskets and totem poles. In the spring and the fall they would make fishing camps and hunt. Long time ago they would use spears to catch fish. The Tlingit people that lived by the woods liked to hunt. They would go to the mountains and hunt goats, bears, and deers.
In the winter the Tlingit people would make totem poles, weave baskets and make blankets and mats. They are very good at carving wood to make totem poles. Some of their poles are twenty feet high. The faces on the totem poles would be about their family. They used roots of plants to make the baskets. The women would make blankets decorated with pictures of bears, whales and birds.
In the winter the Tlingit people would sit by the fire and tell stories and dance. They would dress in like ravens, bears and whales. When they danced they told stories and sang. They had a great time. The children learned a lot about their ancestors.
Today the Tlingit people have a modern life-style, they still live in small villages.
