The Shoshoni did different jobs. The men would hunt and fight. They got horses from the Spanish and rode on horses when they hunted buffalo. One other way they killed the buffalo was to drive them off a cliff. The women would plant gathering and raise kids. The kids would help gather the food.
They ate salmon, sheep, antelope, squirrels, birds, roots, seeds and grasshopper.
The Shoshoni men wore loincloths. Women wore aprons. Kids would wore robes and rabbit fur in the winter.
The Shoshoni had different kinds of homes. They made some of their homes out of branches and animal hides. They made tepees out of poles buffalo skin, and hides.
They believed in one being called Duma App’ah. They made medicine out off plants and ate plants for food.
They did not punish the children, because they thought it would break their spirit. Their hobbies today are crafts, playing football, lacrosse and carving.
There are about 10,000 Shoshoni living today on reservations.
