The Wright Brothers, by Beulah and Shana

The Wright brothers are given credit for being the first to fly a plane that stays in flight and they could control it with power. Before they used power they experimented with gliders. One method they used was to fly a glider as if it were a kite. Steady winds helped them experiment with various designs.
The Wright Brothers were successful with a powered airplane because they were the first to develop a method for control. They believed that power could be added and flight could be sustained only with a fully controllable aircraft; therefore, control had to come first.

We did not write a report about the Wright Brothers and where they were born. We wanted to write about how their tests lead to their first flight. There are many good books about the Wright Brothers.
