Mechanics of Flight
by Paul and Veronica; Grade 4
When an airplane stands on the ground, the forces
acting on
it are balanced. Then the plane
has no
motion. When the plane is in steady
flight, the forces acting on it are also
balanced.
Then the plane stays in
constant motion. Any change in the
plane's
motion is caused by the forces becoming
unbalanced. When
the forces are unbalanced, a plane can
change speed
and
direction.
