Our school did not have one single event to culminate the "Scientist in the City" project after Public Science Day; we held a school-wide car rally just prior to the city-wide events. Instead, classes at G.W. Childs School utilized new science and social studies software in an activity which, once again, integrated science and technology programs.

Students in Grade 2 learned how to map our school community using the Neighborhood Map Machine (Broderbund) software. They used their scientific knowledge of the neighborhood in identifying energy resources, and then completed a unit on living things, which began with living elements in our surrounding environment.

Students in Grades 3 and 4 continued their work with MicroWorlds (LCSI) in the computer lab, creating living environments. These same students participated in our new Science Court program (Tom Snyder), which incorporates technology resources and hands-on science investigation. Our photographs show students using their imaginations, creating living MicroWorlds, solving Science Court problems, and using what we know in the classroom.
