Center for Innovation in Science Learning
Teacher Development

The Center for Innovation is proud to offer summer institutes and school year mini-courses for K-8 teachers, in collaboration with the School District of Philadelphia and Curriculum & Instruction Office; online resources as part of the Keystone Science Network for teachers in eastern Pennsylvania; and after school workshops for educators throughout the region in the Harcourt Teacher Leadership Center. These programs embody the Center for Innovation's commitment to inquiry science by modeling effective science teaching and learning strategies. Participants raise questions, investigate phenomena, interpret findings, consider real world connections, and reflect on the process.

Current Programs
Philadelphia Math Science Partnership 2004—2007

Signature Projects
Keystone Science Network 1998—2003
The Keystone Science Network provides web-based support for K-8 teachers using inquiry science kits in their classroom, as well as a connected network of inquiry science support for participating teachers in eastern Pennsylvania.

Science Learning Network 1994—1998
The Science Learning Network (SLN), a national alliance among science centers, K-8 schools, and a partner corporation, pioneered the use of network technology to support science inquiry teaching and learning.
