But what do I actually do in my job? Step into my office,
and I'll show you. I'm sure you'll notice the large number
of computers with loud fans. Sometimes I even have to wear
earplugs!
The day starts with reading email. Then it varies quite a bit. There are days when the focus is on developing new programs, so it involves editing code, and then testing it, and editing again, testing some more, and so on. Any day could involve an emergency. Computer hardware and software is so complicated that problems do occur. When a problem pops up, I have to detect the source of the trouble. When I find it, sometimes I have to reprogram the software. And there's a lot of research to doI'm always learning about new software and keeping up with the latest developments. |
