STEM Scholars Program Application

Welcome to the STEM Scholars Program Application!

The Franklin Institute's newest educational program, aimed towards Philadelphia and South Jersey area youth, is searching for talented students to be a part of its next class. The STEM Scholars Program will identify highly motivated, underserved, freshmen high school students (grade 9) to participate in concentrated outreach science and engineering programming to ensure their long-term pursuit of careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). The selected students will be immersed in a rigorous, project-based, informal science curriculum consisting of both school-year and summer programs.

The STEM Scholars Program admits only 15 students each year therefore admission is very competitive.

The requirements for entrance to the program are:

  • The program selects underserved, high need students from the Greater Philadelphia Region;

  • Minimum 3.0 Middle School GPA;

  • One Letter of Recommendation from a Teacher/Administrator from Middle or High School;

  • Personal statement (to be written in the box provided at the end of the application);

  • Mandatory interview.

Competitive applicants will be interviewed by a committee selected by Institute staff, and admittance to the program will be determined thereafter.

The deadline to apply is December 15, 2012.

The application must be completed electronically, using the below form. Letters of Recommendation may be sent via email or traditional mail to the address listed at the bottom of this application.
